Re: STAINLESS STEEL TIP FOR ROCKSTER

Aha! reset the Motronic, eh? this is news to me. could you describe this process to me? I'd rather run well with just the down tip, if I could. No I did not reset anything, I just removed the muffler and added the tip....a bit cowboy, I see now. Thanks for your direction, I hope you can give me just...

Power Commander available? stupid? comments please...

I'm just thinking...I heard from a friend about the tremendous increases in performance and mileage, plus you get to dingle around with the settings on your laptop. sounds like fun, but I'm sure he was bragging some, too. Are there any other easy upgrades to the Rockster? I'm curious, relatively mec...

Re: STAINLESS STEEL TIP FOR ROCKSTER

I removed my exhaust and had a down tip like that for a while, but I started to get some lousy idle and stuttering on throttle. has anyone else experienced this? I replaced the old muffler and ,while quiet, the performance returned slowly over a couple of hundred miles, so I am drawn to conclude tha...

Oh yes and the fact that they get clogged and create a vacuum in the tank requiring their replacement. cut it off.

Cut it off!

Okay, there are many reasons to either keep or remove this charcoal canister. Here's my story. I was driving down the highway at about 80 mph in the pouring rain in high commuter traffic and the real wheel just stopped. I began a controlled skid and got the bike off the freeway only to find the cani...

Re: Anyone carry a laptop on the R1150R?

I carried my 17" macbookpro in an Ortlieb waterproof bag with a bungie net on the back for 80 miles a day all last year. a couple of screw came loose here and there, but I am writing this on it now. The only fail was on a road trip, about 240 miles in, the bag had vibrated out from the net (bust...

Re: R1150R without the Silencer ( removed )?

I just reinstalled my silencer after 2000 miles, as I retarded spark and performance drop over that time. I have fallen back in love with the "Swiss Watch" sound of the proper back pressure and sound reduction. although growl was cool, I found, unlike other posters, that my bike didn't run...

Re: Mufler removal

OP here, 1000miles in and I have noticed an increase in pep, especially in to 5000 to7500 rpm range with the silencer off, which pleases me, and the exhaust tone is plenty cool. thanks again for all the info... HP

Re: Mufler removal

Well, I have gone with the $8 tip, left the cat, and to solve the screw loosening problem, I mig welded a little bead wherre the tip pipe meets the old pipe and put a little bead on the heads of each screw. If I want this off to put the stock back on for touring, say, it's two seconds with the grind...

Re: Mufler removal

Thanks for all the info! I guess I'm going to remove it and see what I get and if I like it. The fuel injection automatically compensates for the lack of back pressure, I assume? Again, what is the purpose of not removing the cat? would it make sense to ditch it all? http://www.r1150r.org/board/post...

$850 for a 12,000 mile service? are you kidding?

I'm paying it, but I guess I need to start doing my own maintenance...Does anyone know the best maintenance manual for the 2005 Rock? And where to buy it? thanks H I had a nail in the newish rear Pilot, and rear brakes and the service, plus the annual service, but wow! I had the 6000 mile in March, ...
