Re: Just bought an r1150r...

Thanks :) I'm a little disappointed because the handlebar seems to sit lower, windshield doesn't block as much wind and with the bike being a 6 speed I expected the rpms to be lower on the freeway. Handlebar and windshield can be addressed but I'm thinking it'll cost me around $300 or more. Unfortun...

Just bought an r1150r...

Sold my 2000 r1100r and bought a 2005 r1150r. This "new" bike has 24k miles, givi top case w passenger pad, bmw side cases, Wilber shocks front and rear, oem shocks front and rear, stock rear rack with bag, gel passenger seat, oem passenger seat, heated grips, windshield but *no* ABS. Bike...

New shoes (tires) for my bike...

After looking at the various threads about tires in the 1150R forum, I decided to go with the Metzlers Z6. I bought them online at swmototires.com. Me being in San Diego and them being in Tucson, I was able to place the order around 3pm yesterday and I got them this morning! One questiotn I have abo...

I thought about doing the same thing(1 oil cooler). However, I brought up an image of my bike in a photo editor and "removed" the factory oil coolers and I'd have to say that the bike looked plain. It lost something with the factory oil coolers not being where they were meant to be.

If the dents don't have creases or no real paint damage, then I would try a paintless-dent-repair type shop, which it seems that lowrent had done. Approximate cost is something like $60 a dent, but IMO it's a lot better than bondo and paint.

My understanding is that the dual spark design was to address the surging. Does this imply that the non-dual spark R1150Rs still have the surge?

R1150R vs R1150R vs R1150R...

Could someone list the differences between the different year R1150Rs?

Thanks,

Ok, it just occurred to me. DJ you're "down under", so you must be looking at the R1100R upside down. :) :) In all honesty though, the R1150R is a cool looking bike. ;-)

IMO, the R1100R, which I have, is the Cinderella of the family and the R1150R is one of the ugly sisters. :D :D The R1100R, did I mention I have one?, rides gracefully like a fine dancer in a ball and the R1150R has two left feet. :D :D :D

I'm in San Diego. I really like my bike. It's the Centenniel Edition and I just got my TwinMax vacuum gauge and Wurth feeler gauge, so I'll be tinkering with the bike today. :)

Fwiw, I bought my 2000 R1100R/26k miles/throttlemeister/heated grips/bmw windshield/soft bag on passenger seat for $4500. I'm thinking low $3k or even high $2k for the one you're looking at...just a guess though. :)

Spooky,

I wanted to eliminate the tires/rims vibrating, so what I meant by "stand still" was that I started the bike and just revved the engine to about 5k rpms, and it is around that rpm that I can feel the vibration. So, no need to ride the bike. :)

Thanks,

Rey

Spooky,

Could you verify on your bike that you don't have any vibration at 5k rpms? At a stand still, I can feel the vibration at point.

Sledge,

I put the good stuff unless I accidentally thought I was filling my truck and put diesel in it. :)

26k miles. So, you have no noticeable change in vibration around 70mph/5th gear? If not, then maybe it's just tires...hopefully.

R1100R engine charactersitics?

I've had this 2000 R1100R for about 6 months now and tonight while cruising around I noticed what seems to be some rattling in the engine when I'm in 2nd gear/20mph/2000rpm. Is this normal? I haven't been riding the bike that much to notice if it has always been there. Also, when I get to about 70mp...

Interesting. The reason I ask is due to my previous thread about a gear indicator. I have read that the R1100RT does have a gear indicator. If the only difference between the two is horsepower...hmm...

Hirsty: Thanks for the link. I was thinking the same thing...comparing the signals of the tach and speedometer. I like the idea of their product, but I don't like the relatively large LED(?) display they have. Having that kind of large display is kind like having training wheels. :) Joe: Yeah, my '8...

I can't see my fingers when I'm riding because they are wrapped around the grips. :) Well, it seems like there are no real options and since I haven't had the bike that long, I guess I hope to get a better feel of the bike so that I just know what gear I'm in.
