Two questions;
1. Tyres. Can a 180 section tyre be fitted to the rear of the R1150R? The Rockster uses a 180 section and I would be suprised if it used a different drive/swing arm casting or wheel but I may (probably am) wrong. In the UK there is a far greater variety of 180 section rear tyres avaiable than 170.
2. Any other board members in the UK? If so do you ever gather for ride outs etc.?

The Rockster has a different rear wheel. (from the R1100S Boxercup). See if you can find a 2nd hand one or if your dealer will sell you one if you really need it. But you should be able to find tyres if you look about.
Don't bother going for super modern rubber - Touring or Sport Touring tyres are very good on the "R" and they come in most sizes (Diablo Strada's, Z6's etc).
Andy - The Rock uses a wider rim, hence the 180. Same fit up on the Roadster, but differing width rim. That said, you can fit a 180 profile on the stock Roadster rim (from most tyre manufacturers), but there is little point in doing so.
Leno is correct - Unless you are a serious track rider, the average sport/tour tyres work just fine on the R. Handling and suspension allow you to get all the way over quite safely, plus you get respectible life out of a set of bags.
I'm now on Avons and swear by them. The Z6 has a solid reputation amongst most users, but there are some chinks starting to come up here in Aus with life and 'funny' wear patterns, even on the rears. I have a feeling that many Z6 issues here may be due to a bad choice of tyre pressure rather than the tyre itself, but there are differing schools of thought on that as well.
As an aside, the Avon seems to be the 'widest' of the 170's. Beats me why. It only just clears the space and looks as wide as a mate's Rock with a 180 Z6.
