Re: Bad Gas, Clogged Filter, Both?

Almost final chapter. For those who have not been following this thrilling soap opera, the pride of my life, my 04 R1150 went in for its 12,000 last winter. Late November. I picked it up on a day when the high was 27(F), put it in the garage, added Stabil to the tank, attached the BMW trickle charge...

Re: Bad Gas, Clogged Filter, Both?

Progress report. It started with a bad load of gas in early May, an emergency 20 mile flatbed trip to the dealer, two weeks in the shop and the general loss of June and July riding. The bike goes back to Cliff's Revolution, one of the only two BMW dealers in CT (the other is in East Hartford, close ...

Re: Bad Gas, Clogged Filter, Both?

Sure sounds familiar. Let me share a problem that started last month and is still going on. In 04, bought my R1150R which has been the prize possession of my life. Loved everything about it. Looks, feel, sound, performance. Integrated ABS...unbelievable. It got its 12,000 tuneup this past December a...

XM radio

I've had an XM SkiFi in the car since '02. Couldn't figure a way to use it on the bike. So I bought a MyFi, which I use at home and then put it in the Marsee tank bag (wired for power) when on the road, on the bike. The antenna, with a short wire, clings to the headlight but is invisible thanks to a...

Barback again

Got a pair of very slightly used Verholen barbacks, here, last month. Easy to put on. Great improvement. Changed my riding posture for improved comfort. And while the bar ends can come into contact with the Marsee corona bag, it is not enough to make a difference...and then, only when the bike is on...

AZ, NM, CO, UT trip 5/19 - 5/27

My #1 recommendation: Chaco Canyon (more accurately, Chaco Culture National Park), sort of midway between Gallup and Cuba, NM. Once you leave the highway, you've got about 20 miles of really awful dirt roads...intentional to keep traffic down. Chaco is unbelievable and unforgettable. Have been there...

Throttlemeister, or...

Funny thing, old BMW's came with a built-in throttle control. Under the right handgrip, there was a thumb screw you could tighten so that when you twisted the throttle, it would would remain where you set it. It was just enough tension to hold the throttle in place, but you could easily twist it up ...

Magnetic Tank Bag Preferences and West Bank Riding

I went for the Marsee Corona...here is some ad copy: The new magnetic Corona Tankbag offers a tankbag that almost "hovers above" the tank so there is minimal contact between bag and motorcycle tank Simple to attach - (metal) Corona ring attaches to gas cap and locks tankbag into place, rel...

well i did it. i must have looked like a fool

At a stopsign, at the bottom of a hill, last spring. My left foot failed me. The R slowly leaned too far, gravity took over the and the R rested on its left side. The head is scuffed. Unlike my previous R90, I could not get it back up. A driver came by, looked at me standing next to the reclining bi...

Help. What does this fit

Just to muddy the waters...never saw that part myself, but FTE 24 is also the designation for a halogen reflector bulb.

Bee stings & Benadryl

Beestly topic. To add my experiences, two to be exact, I got my first bee sting in my fifties. On my left thumb. Within a few minutes, the thumb had swollen to near twice its normal size and felt as it were afire. Got into the car and drove to my doctor's office. Everyone was out to lunch. So I wait...

Got Geico Experience?

Thank you for the responses. On this board, all you have to do is ask and you do receive. After reading the last one from Greybeard, I went back to read all 9 pages of the notice I had gotten from Progressive. In addition to the cancellation, which looked official enough, there was, on another page,...

Are Verholen barbacks for the 1150R still being sold in the US? Dealer names will be greatly appreciated.

Got Geico Experience?

Progressive, a company I've been paying for close to 20 years, will no longer write cycle policies in Connecticut. I've got less than 2 months left. So, I started shopping and found Geico thinks Connecticut is still okay to do business in. Any opinions of or experiences with Geico will be be gratefu...

private purchase - warranty question

You're correct. And, from personal experience, there is no problem transferring the warranty to you. I got my slightly used 04 in 04. And the warranty, which has been honored for recalls, will run out this summer. Switching required nothing more involved than a phone call to BMW.

Tested My Engine Guards This Week...

Okay. I feel a lot better now. Mine is not the only 1150R to lie down on the job. But after I dropped mine, I could not get it back up. A guy even older than me drove up, stopped and asked if I needed a leg. Yeah, he said leg. He meant hand. And it seemed to take both of us to get the bike vertical ...

Never ride in the center of the lane or you could die.

And all this time I've been staying out of the center of the lane just to avoid oil patches...thanks for reinforcing a behavior that now is better justified.

turn signal leds in amber?

Check out Load Equalizers for Custom Applications also at J&P. Seems to indicate load equalizers are required when bulbs are replaced by LEDs. Go to
http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup.as ... 1FD74905E6

Seems like a neat idea, but a $50 led?

It is terrific. Works great. But beware of the installation instructions if it is going into a late model 1150R. The illustration is not accurate.

Fastbag

The Fastbag, is on sale for $250 (in choice of 5 colors), from
http://www.a-motorcycle-acc.com/Fastbag.htm
(in Texas in case you were wondering). Kind of a neat idea, but it doesn't look as if it holds much more than a tank bag.

For more info, just google "Fastbag".
