Re: Initial Report:Conti Road Attacks

Living in Canada, I've run these agressively (scraping the centre stand) in 60F degrees, and found them reliable and trustworthy. Quick response going corner to corner. Follows the fall line nicely. Doesn't understeer or oversteer. Great in rain . . . I agree. I've got just over 6000kms on the set ...

Another great example of why I'm glad my wife rides her own bike.
She "gets it" when it comes to suspension settings.

Re: Planning a long trip, need help!

Frog Toggs for rain gear. Available at lots of places, about $50 to $70 a set, breathes and works well. I use it when wearing my leather gear. A motorcyclist favorite! :) +1 They breathe well compared to standard vinyl rain gear and keep you dry, unless of course it's really driving hard, then you'...

Re: Planning a long trip, need help!

Looks like everyone here has given you the advice I'd be inclinded to as far as your bike's condition is concerned. As a few have mentioned...make SURE you tires are in good shape. If your'e doing 700miles each way, especially on the slab, that's a whole lot of wear and tear on a set of donuts. Reme...

Re: Helmet Holder?

Who needs flip-flops?
Go barefoot. If you're gonna do it, go all the way.

You can always bungee the flip-flops to the pillion when you get to the bar (darn 'no shirt-no shoes-no service anyway!)

Cheers! (Literally!!)

Re: Best resources for planning a long distance tour

Have you had a look at yahoo maps? Little slow sometimes, but you can 'drag' your route off the interstates and onto the secondary roads. Also, may want to check out this site: http://www.harley-davidson.com/rideplanner The folks in milwaukee have gone to great lengths to help in route planning with...

Re: Black Cannister?

Thanks Buckster.
Mine was bone stock from the dealer floor, so maybe it is indeed a Canada thing. Although there's plenty of R-bikes in Canada that have the cannsiter on them so who knows..maybe it was a dealer thing?

Black Cannister?

Hey folks, Maybe I missed this somewhere along the way, but can anyone tell me why some R's have a black cylindrical can on the right side of the bike, just below the seat, and others don't? Mine does not have it and funny enough, I've just noticed an R in the area that does. After looking at a few ...

Re: newbie

Hey there, welcome to the place.

The folks here will make you feel right at home, and I have yet to see a place where there are so many good suggestions/ideas etc when it comes to the R-bike that we all love so much.

Congrats on the ride and welcome!

:D

Cheers!

Awesome! Sounds like my wife and I laughing over our childhood! Remember the days too when the road trip meant you got to lie on the rear dash of the family cruiser directly in the sunshine? (either that or on the floor of the pick-up while the old man blasted down the road, smoke in hand and no sea...

Re: Watch the Race on Speed TV!!

Even Better! Ves, you gotta get Speed TV. Like all cable channels there can be a lot of repeat and fluff programming, but they cover the vast majority of the motorcycle races you'd want to watch from MotoGP (all 3 classes), to world superbike (including the supersport class) and most of the AMA race...

Re: Watch the Race on Speed TV!!

Cooper finished 6th and Parriot 7th! That's a heck of a result for the BMW team, especially as the Speed TV announcers discussed that the two riders were on stock HP2s :D Toward the end of the race, the announcers commented that if Parriot finished well, the team was entertaining the thought of havi...

Re: Eat your heart out....gas 23cents/gallon

Here in souhern Ontario gas is $1.08/litre for regular, and in the $1.17/litre neighbourhood for premium...and that's cheap compared to northern Ontario or the East coast of the country where I hear it is $1.20/litre (unverified...but from a couple of solid sources that have been to each locale rece...

Re: Bike to Bike Radio Communication

My wife and I have used a FSR system with variable results. On the highway (read: over 110kph) it is difficult to hear each other, especially when the wind is up. Under 90 or so, and it is not too bad, but the problem I always run into is that I prefer to ride with earplugs, or with noise cancelling...

Perspective can be a wonderful thing...! Here in Ontario, I pay just over $1000 per year for my '05 with full coverage. In my late 30s and been riding for years. It is odd to be sure... Then again, if you hate the tire, then you absolutely have a great excuse to get a new one right? I've got the same tire on the bike now, but after looking at your pic., and investigating, I don't have the same 'indication'. Doesn't matter though, as I am getting new ones tom...

Re: Avon Storm ST tires

The OEM tires I got on my Boxer were Dunlops and while they handled great the rear only lasted about 3000 miles. Wow. That's surprising, I am swapping out my OEM Dunlops on Friday for the new Conti Road Attack. The Dunlops are certainly not showing cords yet, although the rear has squared off enoug...
