One heated grip dead

Riding to work yesterday morning it was getting a little cooler than I'm used to here in North Central Texas. So I fire up the grip heaters. A few mins later my right hand is burning a bit and my left grip heater is dead :( Anyone ever heard of this issue or know where to start to look??

Re: Versatile GPS

I spent about $18 on a RAM mount to put my Nuvi 750 that I already owned on my RR. It's not waterproof, and I've only been caught in the rain with it one time. On that occasion I pulled a quart-sized Ziploc bag out of my tank bag and slipped it over the Nuvi! Worked like a charm. I just can't justi...

Re: New BMW Rider

It's pretty common for bikes to have a whine in first gear. My R1150R has it, my Bandit had it, my ex-wife's SV650 had it, ect. 1st gear also seems to be more clunky than the other gears and I've noticed this on all bikes. It because they don't use syncros like on a car's manual they use dog clutches.

Re: Handlebar Set-Back Installation Troubles - Advice Sought

I just installed a set before I went on Det out here to Cali. You should only have to cut the cable ties at the handle bars to get enough space.

Re: Mileage Bump

Sometimes you can get shady fuel from some suppliers. Either that or the tanks may have been recently filled.

And temperature can also play a part in it.

Re: My Final Drive Story: What Should I Do?

Well since they had to order the special tools for it I'm going to assume the shop had never changed one.

I quit worrying about my mechanical things long ago. mechanical things break and wear out. If it breaks I'll fix it.

All fixed up now. Got the 2 line Galfer kit and deleted all the extra hose and that 3 hose block on the frame. Looks nice and the lever is firmer.

Re: GPS mount on a R1150R

You can kinda make out what I have on the bike here. Far left is my TOM TOM GPS unit. To the right of that is my Aquabox with IPOD in it. And then far right is my video camera mounted to a ball mount. I think I'm going to make a move to the Oregon scientific helmet mounted cam soon though as there a...

Re: Should I start to change my own tires?

I ran regular BB gun style BBs in my Jeep tires for years. They worked great. With the Jeep always seeing rocks and mud a normal balance using lead weights was useless after the first trip to the woods. The BBs kept the tires balanced throughout their lives. I haven't tried it in my bike yet because...

Re: 2002 R1150R - Replaced QD's - Will not start?

all fuses good??

Try jumping the solenoid contacts and see if it will turn that way. If it will then there is something wrong between the switch and the relay. I.E. a fuse. But I don't have a fuse diagram infront of me so I'm not sure which fuse is the crank fuse.

Re: Come hear my tale of stupidity :(

I just went on the cyclebrakes website and couldn't find a BMW section. I typed BMW into the search engine and it came up with a 2 line kit which I would be fine with replacing the front brake line setup that is on there now I just need to know if it will infact fit. Guess I'll just call'em tomorrow...

On that note if anyone can point me to a good online BMW parts dealer I would greatly appreciate it as finding replacement BMW parts on the mainstream sites for japanese bikes is proving troublesome to say the least.
