After weeks of lurking here, I finally decided to jump in and get myself a beautiful red 03 r1150r! Thank you for the wealth of information I got from these threads.
I hope to browse here more often and learn more. I may ask stupid questions once in a while but rest assured I would have exhausted the Search feature before I do so. Cheers to all !
Congratulations! You won't be disappointed with your choice. The R is not just a good bike, it's a great bike that you like better each time you're in the saddle. You'll find that this is a great site as well. I wouldn't be worried about asking stupid questions - you could hardly do worse than some of mine.
BTW, great color (the guys on the silver and black R's all wish they got red, they just won't admit it).

Congratulations! You'll appreciate your Roadster more as the years go by. I've logged 40k on mine through 16 states so far and the bond I feel with my bike is stronger than ever.

Just like any proud dad, I'd love to show her around to anyone who'd care, or even pretend to! I just upgraded from a really neat 650cs, but after 4 months, I knew it was time to move on..
How is it so far? I LOVE IT !
After seeing these pictures, you'd believe me when I say there are only 2 colors available for the 1150r.
Good choice and welcome to the family. You've reached into the 2 wheeler market bucket and pulled out an all-around winner. We are here to help you make smart choices when the time comes to add (necessary) stuff to your ride.
In my 40+ years of riding I've ridden many bikes, mostly my customer's SportBikes made until 2005 when I retired from my business. Every time I ride my 2002 R1150R I get that grin we all know and enjoy. That grin for me is generated by a bike that is capable flying with the crazies, cruising with the lazies or touring economically at any pace or distance I choose. It's 700Watt alternator's 50Amp output is unmatched in any other Std style M/C and even most non-BMW touring bikes. You will soon come to realize the excellent brakes, handling and benefits of it's shaft drive and heated grips.
It's a keeper.
Was reading the PAKSHET thread on MCA and got attracted to your bike so much that I ended up visiting the BMW Dealer here.
Likely to sign a deposit on an 03R1150R...BLACK
Will post pics once he's under my name.
HI there SLEX. Still loving every minute with the red hot chili pepper.
OK, I admit. Black would be my (far) second color choice. When will congratulations be in order then?

Hi DJ,
Thank you sir!
Have been silently admiring your Calvin Klein pose (and daring ) in your Surviving this weather thread.
Not too jealous about that though. Notice the palm and mango trees in my background. I live in tropical Manila where there are 4 seasons:
warm, hot, friggin' hot and get me out of here hot. This December, it's just warm and comfy! Great time to ride! But look at the bright side, my friends from the North, you can go skiing !
