Gas milage

Post by rock712 »

Ok,

I know this bad been brought up before but I have been methodically monitering my milage and this is what I have been getting:

Highway travelling 75-85 mph
100miles (on the odo) = 2.5 gallons
40.0 MPG

City stop and go
100miles (on the odo) = 2.9 gallons
34.4 MPG

What I'm asking is anyone else get these numbers?

I only have about 5000 mile thus far, but I average 45 mpg. I ride 120 miles a day 6 days a week at a range of 65-85 mph. The more miles I put on the bike the better mileage I get.

same or worse for me, I have a small problem with keeping the bike under 90mph

I have never gotten better than low 40's on a tank of gas, even when being "good".

I don't ride in The City -- except to get out of it -- but on the highway at 65-70 MPH, I get 4.2 gallons fill-up every 210 miles. Works out to 50 MPG.
(Oh, I'm riding a Roadster, not a Rockster.)

45-47 mpg mixed highway and city. Stock bike with sport shield, 12K miles.

Haven't ran it long enough with bags on it but, I suspect it would be lower.

Wow :!: you guys get good gas mileage last time I filled up I read 152 on the trip guage and it filled up with 4.2 gal. so I'm only getting 36 miles to the gallon. I ride with saddle bags most if the time and my rock only has 3800 miles on it, I wonder if that makes a difference? I usually shift at about 4k rpm is that when you guys shift? or am I shifting too late and consuming more gas that I should?

I usually shift between 5k and 6k. I fill up at ~165 miles and average 44 mpg city/hwy.

Cheers!

On my recent 4,000 mile trip I averaged 47 MPG when the average speed was over 70 MPH and 50 MPG when the average speed was under 70 MPH. Mileage didn't go much over 50 even when the speeds averaged 60 MPH. I used my GPS to keep track on average speeds per tank. In city driving I get about 45 MPG since I took the Techlusion R259 off of it. With the Techlusion installed I was at 40-42 MPG.

My figures (~50 MPG) are pretty well fully loaded. I usually travel with panniers, tank bag, and three rolls -- thermarest mattress, camp chair and tent -- strapped across the rear seat (though I removed the seat and put on the silver BMW cover plate...) I use the Sport Shield and shift pretty short. I'm easy on the throttle, except when passing. I think the Sport Shield helps a lot.

Not sure, but I think rocks don't have the Roadster's(US) overdrive sixth? My Roadster averages ~ 45 mpg in mixed.

Ah. Good point. I do have the overdrive 6th. 3500 RPM at 70 MPH indicated -- which I think is 63 actual.

Rocksters have overdrive. The other thing that is likely to effect mileage is that the Rock doesn't come with a windscreen.

I've got the OEM screen which is pretty tall, and I average between 44-46 mpg. I get better if I'm doing straight highway.

I keep rpms at around 4K give or take a couple when 'just going.' OF course in 6th at 70+ mph it creeps up to 4500 and more. Sounds like you guys are riding your beemers like jap bikes: high rpms.

I ran out at exactly 160 miles, luckily at the top of a downhill dual carriageway exit ramp;with a sainsburys garage at the bottom.Phew!only managed to get 18.5ltrs in to the tank, which i think works out to around 40mpg.mainly dual carriageway, with some urban and country A roads.only had my rock '03 80th edition for a few weeks, but lovin it!going to try and curb my enthusiasm a little, and try to improve the fuel consumption.mine came with remus 'Y'pipe and revolution end can.Do any of you think thiscould have a negative affect on consumption?
