About a half mile from where I work is the BMW Eastern region training center, in Montvale NJ. You can go here and find it under Training

So I had this bright idea (so I thought) that a training center must need bikes to work on to teach the trainees. The context for this is that there is not one BMW motorcycle dealer in northern New Jersey. This is a densely populated, affluent area, and there is not one freaking dealer in the whole area. New York City is just not an option. BMW's North American HQ is in northern NJ, but they have no motorcycle dealers here. You can't spit around here without hitting a BMW car, but they have no motorcycle dealers. Understand my frustration?
I thought that this might be an easy way to get my bike serviced. I called them up and talked to the receptionist. First, she denied that it was a training center. Upon further questioning, she admitted that training was one of the things they do there. I asked her if they serviced bikes as part of the training. She said NO. I started to rant about the sorry state of BMW when there is not one darn dealer in this area.
She asked if I wanted to be transferred to customer service. I said OK. She then transferred me to someone who answered the phone, "BMW Executive Office." I repeated my rant. He politely responded that:
- BMW dealers are independently owned
- It is not true that their dealers have to sell BMW exclusively
- They apologize for the situation and are actively working on a solution including talking to investors about a Westchester County NY location
- blah blah
So no resolution to the issue. It was a typical polite, non-helpful response from a large corporation.
BMW really needs to address this situation. How are they going to sell bikes if they are missing this huge market?
