hooking up radar detector

I'm hooking up the electrical on my radar detector.. Looking for a hot wire that comes on when I turn on the ignition.. any suggestions...

Welcome. Let me know how you like the HARD system. I considered it but ended up with the Radar Screamer. I don't like wires to the helmet.

Along a related line...I wired my helmet with speakers and mic from Autocom; I ended up with multiple problems.

The speakers add enough thickness under the liner cloth to smash my ears to an uncomfortable level and my primary reason for doing all this was for cell phone communication. Not only has it turned out to be uncomfortable but, anyone I talk with gets a horrible echo into their phone - regardless of cell or landline.

I was going to hook up my ESCORT into the Autocom but, it has lost some of its appeal.

Any suggestions?

Instead of helmet speakers, you might consider ear speakers built into custom ear plugs. They will not feed back through the microphone the way helmet speakers do and you can use much lower signal levels. - Lee
