silver luggage panle

When I bought my rockster it came with a passanger seat and a silver plate that you can put luggage on, However when I removed the rear seat I am unable to get the plate to snap in And one more thing,.......... and I know this sounds STUPID but I can't seem to change the time on my clock I bought the bike new from the dealership and they set the time for Eastern time and I live in Washington State. I have read the manual and it says to use a ball point pen and I have but the darn thing just wont change, Can Anyone help!

About the luggage plate. They are very hard to put on. If you remove the rubber washers that go around the posts on the plate it's alot easier to install. Some of the guys here on the board have just cut these in half with a sharp blade. And about the clock on the Rockster, you've probably tried to push in on those two indentations to change the time right? Well, I've found that it takes more pressure than you think it should. It seems that the actual buttons are recessed pretty far down. You should be fine using a ball point pen though. Nothing too sharp! Hope this helps?

I finally shaved down the rubber bumper thingies that are around the two pins on the underside of the panel. That makes latching less difficult. I was wary of taking off too much, but probably could shave mine down a bit more.

As to the clock, you need something small and hard and pointed, but not sharp enough to cut the rubber in the little buttons. The "pen" from a PDA might work. Got to push and hold it a second or so before something happens. Other than that, not sure how much other help I can give.

You CAN use the ignition key to adjsut the time - but as said, you need a fair bit of force.

Thanks for all of the advice I just pushed a bit harder with a chop stick and I was able to set the clock, however I am a bit hesitant to cut the rubber mounts on the luggage plate But sooner or later I'll have to shave some of the thickness down. Thank again

I don't use the rubbers at all, and the panel still has a tight fit.

I finally took a razor blade to the rubber gomets and shave a bit off each one and it snapped right in.. Thank you all for the words of wisdom.

The other trick (too late now you have shaved the rubbers) is to press down firmly directly over the two pin points with the back of your palm (like a CPR push). The pressure directly over the pins seems to enable them to pop in quite nicely. You will hear each one as it clips.

Mixr, I have to say that I did try that I was damm near jumping on it with the palms of my hands right over the pins and no such luck! and I'm a big boy 212lbs. . the hooks on the pins were just a hair below the rubber gomets, anyhow it works great now!
