Battery ground cable termination - location?

Post by wvwoof »

Folks I'm having one heck of a time locating the other end of the negative cable that connects the battery to the engine/transmission. The dealer says its on the engine forward of the battery and that you can see it from the side. I'm not finding anything that looks like a heavy gauge cable. She's an '02 R1150R Roadster without ABS. Any help would be appreciated!

From the boys at BMW Motorcycles of America ( BMWMOA ) :-
"The ground cable from the battery is secured by a 6mm hex-head bolt on the engine block under the battery holder cage. It's very difficult to get to, but nevertheless must be kept clean and preferably smeared with a coating of di-electric grease to avoid any possibility of dampness-effect corrosion causing possible high-resistance that will reduce the cranking power and running quality of the bike."
I've seen praise on t'Interweb for a firm called EnDuraLast which supplies a multi-core cable set that's alleged to pass current better and faster than a regular cable.
Sorry, was that a pig I just saw flying past above your head ? ?
