Top Box Choices, HELP
I am desparately in need of some more "hard" storage space. I ride pretty comfortably with the rear passenger and the stealth backrest which I know I will lose. The problem is that I hope to not have the rear passenger any closer than they are now.
I would like to get a top box, and wish BMW had one that would fit, any suggestions, I have an 02 with the system cases now, and rally could use the space. I would be willing to spend extra $$$ for the best case I can get and can fit, removable would be terrific too.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Size matters....
I have a Givi E52N. 52litres, integrated brake light back rest and top rack to strap more stuff to.
It is the best choice, IMO, for commuting and day to day. It keeps you narrow to slice and dice in traffice and can carry alot. After two winters in Chicago, it has remained bone dry.

Chris, check out my other post re : mounting a Givi with the standard BMW luggage rack.

I also use the Stealth and that's why I didn't want to go with the Givi mounting HW.

just received my hepco-becker topcase and rack last week. very cost effective at $150 for the topcase and a little over $100 for the rack. bolts straight on to the sidecase rails in about 5 minutes. check out eurotech motorsports.

Inexpensive
Consider this inexpensive alternative:
JC Whitney Deluxe Top Box with universal plate mount and locking latch. Removable from the plate which attaches to your existing BMW luggage plate; does not interfere with the backrest; permits you to keep the rear seat; holds a full size helmet; stable mounting; pebbly black finish; reflectors included. $60 plus shipping.
Go to JCWhitney (.com) and search for Custom Travel trunk.

Ah, but it does not have a "spoiler" like the one I saw. I think the added aerodynamic features are worth at least $15 more!
Seriously, though, the $75 one claims to be water proof. What about the $60 one? Does it have a rubber gasket or anything like that to keep out water?
More importantly, how does it look on the Roadster?

I just fitted mine out with the GIVI SR683 rack and associated Monokey base plate. I chose the E45N box, mainly because it's one of the few that will take two skid-lids, or a heap of gear and one skid-lid. It also blends in better with the stock cases, unlike the more rounded GIVI cases (360N/460N etc) that are great designs, but too different to the side cases (in my humble opinion).
The only issue with the GIVI setup is that the case does sit further forward than I would like. It leaves 'just enough' room for the pillion and should really be a few inches further back. I might do that if I start carrying a pillion more often. I think my 'large bones' might also restrict the pillion's room a bit!
