You think you have seen it all...!!!

Riding down 1488 in S.TX near Magnolia, late this afternoon, heavy traffic on that 2 lane road - and out of a side street comes a cruiser.

Dad, about 250 lbs plus, mom, about 200 plus leaning back against the sissy bar - no helmets, no safety gear, and beach filp flops for foot wear. Now that is not uncommon down here. That is not what got my attention. What did, was their about 4 year old daughter sandwiched between them - again without a helmet or protective gear!!!

I felt like turning around, stopping them to ask if they were dummmer than dirt or criminally insane. Any one in TX under 18 must wear a helmet. Sheesh!

Spoiled my ride as the the 80 odd more miles I still had to go to get home, I was thinking if I should have turned around for the sake of that kid. I guess I could have stopped, turned on the Cell and reported it to the cops. Certainly will the next time!

I find it disgusting too, but I don't let it get to me. Natural selection will run its course. I mean, where does it stop? Do you follow the fat couple home and make sure they don't eat crap? Do you try to prevent them from smoking? Sounds like someone should have prevented them from having a baby - a bucket of cold water works well for that....

I remember the 2 and a half years I lived in India - on Sunday there would be 100 cc Hondas in heavy traffic with mom, dad, and 2 or three kids. The women sit sidesaddle there - saw one drop an infant from the pillion seat while travelling on the third ring road on the Southern edge of New Delhi once. Barely even phased her.

I find it amazing to see riders without helmets. I know a guy who rides with no helmet, shorts, and sandals. Amazing.

There was an open house today at North county BMW in Escondido, CA.
It was a little warm (101), but most of the guys and gals rode in wearing protective gear....all except one guy who rode in shirtless on a Suzuki bandit wearing swim trunks, tennis shoes w/o socks, a helmet, and gloves...and then he got upset when the dealership wouldn't let him take a bike out on a test drive..he got a great send off from the boys standing around the grill.

I'm truly embarrased and applogize for the disregard to safety of the Bandit rider. I'm so shocked that I'll be selling mine as a result.........

BTW.......contrary to popular belief that's not me and the wife on the pic above, the bike is too small............
