2014 Calendar
Hello
I was wondering if there were plans to put together a 2014 Calendar. The 2013 Calendar is definitely one of my prized possessions (along with the bike it portrays).

Re: 2014 Calendar
It just requires someone to do it. It was my turn in the barrel last year- who wants to pick it up this year?

Re: 2014 Calendar
I will be happy to do the file hosting/managing and set up a Cafe Press page to purchase them from.
It will be the same as last year, I'll post up a link for Smugmug where anyone can upload full size files easily.
I can post up instructions with the link.
If a couple other folks want to team up and do the hard part of choosing what photos get featured we can make it happen.
It may be fun to be able to nominate others photos posted on this site in 2013, if nominations get selected the author can choose to submit an original file.
Submissions due by 12/25, calendar available for purchase 1/1 sound good?
So who wants to jump in?

I'll contribute a picture or two and my uneducated opinion on which should be selected. I just want to go on record as lodging a protest now. It is unfair that some people, Finn for example, know how to use a camera, and use it well. I can barely turn mine on.

Re: 2014 Calendar
Does the board hosting program allow us to set up a poll to vote for the photos? That would be handy.

Re: 2014 Calendar
As far as I know you'd have to set up poll before the entries were in which wouldn't work.
I think I could setup smug mug for voting but it worked last year having 2 people decide what photo go in. I will check into smugmug voting.
I will try to get the smugmug with full instructions up later today.

Re: 2014 Calendar
If I remember rightly, the photo choices weren't too complicated. There weren't so many pics submitted that a lot of people got left out. Seems a couple of the regulars could make the choices.

Re: 2014 Calendar
OK, I have the smugmug site ready, anyone wanting to submit a photo for the calendar needs to follow the link below and upload a full resolution JPEG file. Don't worry about resizing the file, I will do that when I get them ready for print, just upload the largest file you have. The photos should be in landscape orientation and be at least 2000 pixels wide. All photos submitted will be included in the montage on the cover of the calendar, we're all winners!
Your photo NEEDS to be uploaded to smugmug to get in the calendar, the judges will go by the photos in the smugmug gallery for final consideration.
You can click the share button in smugmug of your photo to get the URL to post up here.
Photo submission deadline will be December 25th, our esteemed judges will have a week to make the hard decisions.

Re: 2014 Calendar
OK boys and girls, submissions closed... It's time for our volunteer judges to do the hard part - decide which photos will be featured in the calendar.
You fellows let me know how you'd like to proceed via PM and I'll put it together.
Happy Holidays everyone!

Re: 2014 Calendar
So who's the judges? Couple folks said they could jump in...
I haven't heard anything from anyone and don't want to be solely responsible for who's photos get chosen, if there's a few judges then it's not on anyone specific, like having multiple executioners.
I'm leaving tomorrow to go for a ride for a week to start the new year out right, won't be any interweb where I'm going, but I will get the calendar made up asap upon my return assuming 12 photos have been chosen by some members here. If nobody steps up I'll have Nancy choose her favorites.
Happy New Year!

My 2 cents:
3, 6, 11, 13, 14. 15, 26, 31, 33, 35, 37, 41
A little cropping or straightening on a few wouldn't hurt. The bikes ability as a pack mule is certainly evident in a lot of the photos!
Thanks Finn.

1 cents:
2, 6, 10, 21, 23, 24 (mine), 27, 31, 35, 37, 48, 50 - That's 12. I tried to pick ones I didn't recall from previous years (ie - ones that are perhaps more recent..)

Re: 2014 Calendar
OK, I'm working on the calendar but am having trouble picking out the months and making a montage.
Taking into consideration the "nominated" photos mentioned and consulting Nancy I've narrowed it down... the problem is there quite a few photos that I want to feature it's just that there's things like tires cut off, or other brand bikes in the shot, or great backgrounds but half bikes. I'm all for closeups but some of them are kind of in between. I'm also trying not to have 1 persons bike on multiple months to keep a variety. Taking those things into account I'm a few photos short...
Again, this is why I was saying picking out the photos is the hard part, I certainly appreciate everyones contribution, but there can only be 12 so many of them can't make it into the months, all submitted photos will get put into the montage though. It's not a photo contest by any means, but for the images to look good in print the things I mentioned need to be considered and we had a lot more submissions last year to choose from.
I have posted up in the 1200R Photo Thread asking for more submissions and if anyones opposed to the photo they posted being used in the montage. I'm going to give it a couple days and will have the calendar ready by the weekend to order either way.
Submissions are open for a few days more!

Re: 2014 Calendar
It's done!
I went for another ride this weekend but have finally finished it. Hey, it was in the 80's here in perfect California, too good to pass up!
You can choose the start month when ordering if you want to start Feb. 1st....
There is a small markup on the calendar which the proceeds will go to Doug to help keep the site going, so buy a few of them and give them as gifts, not only will people like it but you're helping keep this place running!
Thank you everyone for contributing, keep your camera with you and take lots of photos for next years!
Order Here:

Cheers!
