What is this port for?

Greetings - need some assistance please. I just got my 2004 R1150R last weekend. What is this port on my 2004 R1150R for?

Congrats, nice bike, the best year no doubt.

That is a power Accessory Socket.

BMW has a proprietary plug type that goes in there, but you can power a GPS, heated clothing, charge a cell phone, etc.

It can also be used to charge the battery via a BMW Gel charger:

or a USB adapter with the plug.

Thanks - still learning a lot about this bike. Previous bike was a Kawasaki Ninja from the mid '90s. Definitely different riding.

Very helpful - missed that in the owner's manual - didn't realize it was a proprietary plug. Didn't know it could be hooked up to a Battery Tender of some kind here.

Then what is this plug for?

That is one someone added, possibly for heated gear.
