Front BMW LED Signal Install on a 07'

Post by Lost Rider »

I've had these signals laying around from Nancy's F800R, figured it was time to mount them on the 12R, plus I haven't really done much for the Roadster in a while and just love cutting stuff.

Not sure about newer models of course, but my 07' 12R doesn't have plugs on the front signals like on the F8R, just the wires going from the lamp housing into the loom. I don't think these signals were even available way back when I bought the bike.
So out came the snips, a soldering iron and some heat shrink. Everything was pretty straightforward being a two wire fixture with matching colors, a little effort and my bike now looks just a little newer, a little slimmer, and has brighter signals. Overall I'm happy with the results, even gave her a bath to finish the day at the spa with it's facelift. :D

Joe - no warning lights? (I did my rear ones with LED inserts with a center red brake strip and it was OK..) Might think about doing that sometime..

No warning light, with these being BMW signals that were an option on the F800R I would imaging they have the correct resistor or magic wizardry built in to play nice with the CAN-BUS.

+1 on no warning lights. One installation difference: the new signals were plug-and-play on my 09/08 build. For earlier models, there's an LED turn signal retrofit kit that might make it plug-and-play.

On the factory LED tail light, however, there was a warning light after plug in. Clearing it cost $75 at the dealer.

Tail light, turn signals, P3s, Photon Blasters -- I might need LED counseling.
