Poll Check oil engine running

Post by David R »

I just started observing.
2012 R1200R

With the bike hot and Idling on the side stand, the oil level is visible.

Does yours read the same as if you checked it according to the book?

So far mine seems to read a little higher, but it sure is easy.

Are we talking with dino or synthetic oil? 10W 40 or 20W 50?

Dont forget: Northern or Southern hemisphere, atmospheric pressure, standard temperature, etc. I hear it is also different with nitrogen fills in the tires... :-"

Don't think it would be possible with Dino, although, you have to get the synthetic *just right* for all of this to work out properly. Glad we have a poll on this. :-k

I don't get it.

It says nothing about which brand or weight of oil, Just can ya see it or not.

I had an oil head RT checking the oil on the R1200R is easier.
