Double Clutch into First

Post by vroomr »

There was a post here years ago, possibly by Don Eilenberger, that suggested two pulls on the clutch as a cure for the occasional inability to go from neutral into first. I've been using this technique for years and it always works. What I recall about that post was that it also gave an explanation of why this technique works, but I've forgotten that description. I'm not able to locate that message; can someone restate the explanation here? TIA

Thanks, no, not that one. It is possible I'm completely senile, though.

it's a snap - as the posting states
slightly rev he motor - slowly let out on the clutch - and apply some pressure to the shifter and the trans slips into first or any other gear if the bike is not going from one gear to another :)
I usually shift into first as the bike slows under 10 mph. If the trans doesn't move to first I have a moment to adjust.
