Y-pipe

Re: Y-pipe
I purchased a "Y" pipe from Motorworks in the UK for my Rockster. It was advertised as also fitting the 1150GS and the 1150R. They are usually very reliable.
Re: Y-pipe
Did you install that Y-pipe from Motorworks? Does it fit OK? I've bought one myself awaiting delivery.

Re: Y-pipe
I bought a used Y-Piece and Remus Can that was off an R1150GS.
Both went straight on with no problems.

Re: Y-pipe
While on the subject of mufflers, I'm looking to pick one up; already have a y-pipe installed. I've seen some nice looking GPR products on fleabay http://www.ebay.com/itm/EXHAUST-SYSTEM- ... 637wt_1396 , anybody have any experience with these? I wanted an Akrapovic but the cost is painfully prohibitive!
Thanks for all the support.

Re: Y-pipe
I have bought three (one for myself, two for friends). The two for my friends fitted OK, mine was a tiny bit "off" where the two header pipes are connected. In all three cases we had to apply some upward pressure on the muffler to make it fit. Overall, for the price, I have no complaints. The whole piece is now turning a nice gold colour and looks good (to me anyway). Also, I feel that there has been an increase in low-end torque, always nice to have.brico wrote:Did you install that Y-pipe from Motorworks? Does it fit OK? I've bought one myself awaiting delivery.
Re: Y-pipe
Received my Y-pipe from motorworks today. Fitting was a breeze. The finish is excellent. let's see how it manages the heat. The muffler does not slip on as far as it did on the cat pipe but a slightly longer dent on the Supertrapp can (the original had a small dent as well) made sure it would not rub against the rear tire. Too late this evening to fire it up. Will try out in the morning and report how it feels and sounds. First impression of (chepaer model) the Motorworks' Y-pipe is very good for 118 GBP (VAT included)
Re: Y-pipe
How do I get one of you chaps in the UK to ship me one of these Y - Pipes in the US? The company won't sell in the US due to our over litigious society...

Re: Y-pipe
you need to know someone in UK to buy it for you and ship to yu across the pond as I did two weeks ago. Mine is fitted and running.

Re: Y-pipe
I just got a laser full system ( duo tech muffler , y-pipe , and power chip ) All for less than $700 . Fits great and sounds nice too . Haven't installed chip yet . Suppose to change fuel mapping to run smoother around 3000 rpm . Much lighter than factory anchors .
Re: Y-pipe
I installed a two brothers racing y pipe over the weekend that I had modified to fit with my Leo Vince SBK. Total weight savings has to be ~20 lbs. The TBR y pipe had to be modified because it has a 2" outlet which exits about 6" longer than the factory cat outlet and much higher (by the passenger footpeg). I had a local exhaust shop weld a new pipe from the merge collector with a 1.75"OD that met up with the slip on. Came out great. Definitely some increased power in the upper revs, the front wheel doesn't like staying down when WOT.

Re: Y-pipe
Well, a new Remus is 418 plus shipping. Close enough? Be advised you won't be able to use System Cases with the newer y-pipe as their quality control on this part is lacking these days (I doubt they sell many as this is an older model bike).

Re: Y-pipe
If it's like the one I nearly bought from MW be aware that it doesn't have a bracket for the rubber rebound stop for the centre stand.brico wrote: First impression of (chepaer model) the Motorworks' Y-pipe is very good for 118 GBP (VAT included)
The Remus one I ended up with does.
