Rear wheel play (again)

Post by gerryb »

A site search found some old posts but they were not very definitive.

On a 2008 R1200R with less than 5000 miles, should there be any detectable play?

While on the center stand and holding the rear tire at 12 and 6, there was clear but small play when loaded side to side. There was no noticeable free motion when held in the 9 and 3 positions.

What is the current thinking on this? This seemed like very low mileage for any sort of final drive wear.

Thanks

There is a specification for play in the rear wheel. It's not a lot, but a tiny bit is allowable..

BTW - I see you said "(again)" - is there a story there?

no story on my end. I'm new here and i got the impression people were tired of final drive topics, real or imagined.
