Any one using Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 in their R1200R?

I hope I am allowed ONE oil theme thread! I promise not to mention if I like or dislike my R's seat.

I use Rotella T6 in my cars and Bikes where 5W-40 is an approved viscosity... so I wonder if
any of you have used it in your BMW, R1200R or otherwise?

For me and many other bikers it has been a very good oil.

I have been thinking of switching to Castrol TWS (10W-60) oil this summer.. it's made in Germany and was developed with the BMW engineers for the S54 engine used in the E46/M3 and my M-Coupe. I've had it tested several times by Blackstone after use in the S54 engine, and the results have been excellent. Kept it's viscosity, the ash-point didn't drop, and there was plenty of the additive package left after 8,000 miles in a high rev'ing solid-lifter performance engine. I think it might work quite well in the R12R, and the cost is about the same or less then BMW-Motorrad synthetic oil.

Yep the T6 is the synthetic. I already have TWS 10W-60 in the Garage as I have a S54 Powered 2002 BMW M Coupe in the Garage next to my bikes. Thought about it as a bike oil and sometimes use it as a "top up" in my 1986 K75C beacuse it shears any oil I put in there almost 2 whole grades in a year/6000miles.

M Coupe just had Rod Bearings replaced after Blackstone report of 21ppm Copper after 6000 miles on TWS. #2 Rod bearing was down to ALL COPPER! TWS is great stuff but not good enough medicine to heal those crap bearings in the S54.

Funny how BMW had a service campaign to replace the rod bearings on the S54 engines used in M3's - but us M-Coupe owners.. well, we just gotta keep getting the oil analyzed and hope the damn bearings don't spin. Mine is an '01.. (with about the same miles on it as my R12R..) Mebbe all 600 of us with that engine/car should start a class-action..
