Shift Assistant......I want it!

Last year I test rode a K1300S, it had the shift assist feature and I thought it was the coolest thing. I was hoping that it would soon be an option on all beemers, seeing that it was first on the HP boxer too. Now I see that it can be added at the dealer on the K1300S machines for under 600 bucks plus labor. How cool would it be if it could be fitted to the roadsters. I wonder who could make this happen?

Not a simple matter of adding that BMW part... You will notice in the parts fiche image that the shifter has an electrical pigtail which connects to support electronics most likely integrated into the ECU. For the K1300s and HP Sport, the shifter us supported; an R1200R is likely not configured for the add-on via wire harness connector etc.

It is possible to add an aftermarket shifter (Pingel, Power Commander, etc) as used for street/strip bikes.

I gota Pingle Shifter on my R1200R. It works really good. Up or down...Alamo BMW installed it..
