Moving the bike!
I'm getting ready to move from Nevada to California and need to have the movers pack the bike in the moving van. This will be the first time I've moved with the bike, and I want to make sure the movers take good care when packing it up. Any tips/tricks/things to watch out for? Trailering it myself and towing isn't going to be an option so it'll have to go on the moving van with the rest of my stuff, and I really don't want the "professionals" to screw anything up.

If you can, crate it right in the space available on the moving van.

The movers will certainly get it right. Into the van with the bike and then strap it on the fork and the rear frame (rear pegs?). No big deal.

If you want to avoid all the stress (and get rid off lots of other stress): JUST RIDE IT !

Thanks for the suggestions. I'd ride it if that were a practical solution, but the Mrs. and the toddler won't be able to drive both of our other cars while I take the fun way. I'll watch the movers carefully since, having moved 5 times in the last 10 years I am NOT "sure the movers will get it right."

Thanks for all the suggestions. The move went well, at least for the bike. They padded the bike up with about a thousand moving blankets and strapped it against the wall of the truck. No damage noted so far. Now to find where they packed my helmet...
