Changing cop bike to 2 seater

Post by bimmerguy »

Just bought 01 RTP1100 and my girl wants to ride and she won't fit in the radio box.
I just finished the conversion and besides the extra cop wires, it's really pretty easy.
RR seat, ebay $120, rr seat latch w screws and blind nuts $40, 3 rr plastics $100 from another forum, rr latch tumbler $26 oem.
bmwsporttouring.com has great pics of conv.
Once radio box is off, turn power on, test all cut wires for power, shorten and heat shrink.
Take off side case rails, remove taillite and rr plastics, replace with 2 seaters, side rails back on, install rr seat latch, snap seat on and go.
I used cop city cases , so I had to trim a bit off rr plastic.
I am a BMW junkie. I am on my 9th BMW auto, can't beat em. This is my second BMW bike, first was k1200rs, I like this better.
BMW...Not always easy to work on, but worth the effort.

Hi,

I believe the radio box is just a click-in piece replacing the rear seat. And the rear seat is usually fixed by the front seat hence I presume you just need to remove the front seat, remove the radio box and click-in the rear seat. Snap-in the front seat again and youre done.
