Yes, I wondered about heat shield - does new model run hotter or is the case closer? Never aware of a problem before.

Case Heat Shield, great...
Item #482 on the list.
I checked the bottom of my case and did not note anything out of sorts or discolored. I commute with the cases more often than not. Looks like a doable project to fabricate one.

The retrofit kit heat shield for the left system case is part 77427729294 — no price listed at Max's or Chicago BMW.
