click and a flash of the tail light when charging

feel a little silly but is this normal. I never noticed it, I would plug it in and leave. Today while working on the bike while plugged in approx every few minutes I hear a click and notice the tail light flashes.

OK - I'll start. What kind of charger are you using? Where is the click coming from?

Its a BMW charger, the clicking sounds like the relays on the electrical system

Is the click coming from the charger or from the bike? A stock R12R has only one relay - it controls the main electrical feed to the starter motor.

Any powered accessories? One of them is probably the culprit.

Um.... my 12R does the quick tail light, signal flash all the time.
It's about 2-3 minute after turning the key off, and when the CANBUS shuts off power to the accessory/gps circuit.
I thought they all did that, but maybe it's only when my tank box is plugged on and there's a draw on the circuit...
Have to look next time without my GPS on.
