Special procedure when reconnecting battery?

Is there any necessary procedure to follow when reconnecting the battery on the R1150R.
I recall having read something indicating you need to need to move two or three times the throttle full open so some setting get initialized?
My bike has no ABS.

Yes, that is to tell the motronic the throttle body position ... But honestly speaking I am not so sure if this is a myth or not. I never followed that instruction and whenever I reconnected my batt after the winter my bike ran fine ...

The ECU is fairly elemental in this application, but it does learn so the riders habits after several on/off cycles. That being said, the intent of the throttle open/close process allows the ECU to record the limits of throttle operation.

This is usually accomplished with the key in the on position awhile you crank the throttle two or three times, from close to full open. That is the way to set the ECU to the base settings.

If the 1150R ECU is adaptive (learns), that maybe the cause of allot of performance related issues? I have worked allot with adaptive ECU's, they are beyond a shadow of a doubt smarter then the nut behind the wheel. But most if not all "normal" adaptive ECU mapping is geared toward saving the vehicle from it's owner.

This is the 1st I've heard of this, good information!
