Checking Out a 2000 R1100R Tomorrow

Post by Xdot »

I'm driving an hour-and-a-half south tomorrow morning to check out a 2000 R with 11K miles. Looks like a real gem complete with ABS, heated grips, cases, windshield, and even a factory tail luggage mount. Asking $7,800 which is WAY too much around here. I'm taking ads for four other bikes in the area that are as good or better and have sold for much less than that. Either he'll listen or he'll get to keep his bike.

The '00 with ABS and heated grips didn't have ABS or heated grips. Ticked me off. But I got to ride it for about 20 minutes and further reinforced my appreciation and enjoyment of the 1100. I also test drove an '04 Rockster that was pristine but hadn't been properly maintained. I can't take the chance with those $$$ ABS so had to say no to a really great price. Guess that means I'm still looking when I want to be riding. :(

There are so few around here I'm considering buying a one-way ticket and riding one back!

I bought a '00 back in April, no ABS but it DID have heated grips. I paid $4,500. If that dude is asking $7K+ he's trying to rip you off!
