Tire changing Question

Over the years I've changed many dirt and cruiser style tire's on my bike's myself,my R1200R is coming due for replacement I,ve never tackled a tire like on the rear is their any special issue's?Would you consider this a do it yourself project for someone that has change's 10+ other bike tire's or better off at a bike shop with a tire machine.Normally I don't balance my bike tires and have never had a problem what is your thought's.Any special tool's that you can think of? I ride my bike but seldom go past 80mph.Thanks for the input

Easy job. Nothing special except for the BMW hub adapter if you decide to balance.

Hit the search function on the forum here, I believe Chitown did a write up on changing his tires once. Appeared pretty straight forward. I am however hesitant to do mine but only because I know how hamfisted I am and I don't want to scratch up my wheels. But, if I buy a tire changing machine in the near future I may do them myself, we'll have to see.

I might be overly cautious... but I think a balancing is essential considering the velocity and duration the R12R achieves with so little effort. I find I'm at 140kph before even noticing i'm going 'fast'.

+1 on going fast before you know about it . Mine gets really comfortable at about 80mph. Isn't is GREAT !

Some friends and myself have gotten together and changed many tires on 1150's, and the last pair I put on mine I used balancing beads from http://www.innovativebalancing.com/

I had very good results on both front and rear tires. I think it cost me about $10 to balance both and there is no special equipment required. I am very impressed.

Changing tires is pretty easy, here's a link to a much better write up than mine and even though it's a dirt bike, most of the procedure still applies.
I use a Marc Parnes balancer, sometimes, other times I just ride and have never felt anything.
