Another new R owner post. I live near Morganton, NC just a few miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. I have been riding for 40+ years and just traded my Triumph Sprint for a 2007 black R1200R with approximately 3000 miles on her. I rode her home on a too short 80 mile loop around the back roads and loved it. The weather had been in the 30's, but now it's down to 6 degrees so I have relagated my activities to cleaning her and trying to sweet talk Mother Nature and Ol' Man Winter into some "normal" temps. Hope to get in a ride soon and I will take some photos of her.
I've learned a bunch from searching the site. Thanks to all for sharing their expertise.
Cheers
Bob

Welcome Bob. I ride with a lot of BMW riders from around WNC. Boone, Newland, Charlotte, Burnsville,Cruso, Asheville and Black Mountain. I am in E. TN. And we have buddies in Augusta and Columbia. Stay in touch as there are lots of rallies in that area in the warmer months. A real good one near Ferguson N.C.

Re: Hello from WNC
It is a perfect bike for this part of the country and I am a "twin" fan by nature. The Sprint was a bit of a nostalgic choice from my Trident riding youth (1975 was a good year). Previously, I had been back and forth on a couple of BMW's (S, ST) at our now closed local dealership. I went back for a third try to get a firm price and found the doors chained. Next nearest shops were a 100 miles away and I was offered a great deal on the Triumph. The bike was fantastic and a great value at its price point. That being said, I have kept my eyes open and when this classic beauty dressed in Black showed up, I had to have her. SWMBO agreed (I have the best wife) and I went and drove her home.
Sorry to babble on, I am chomping at the bit to get in some miles on her.
Cheers all
