FITTING A REAR HUGGER TO A ROCKSTER

I am new to the world of Rockster and have bought a patent plastic rear hugger for it. It came with two bolts, the right hand side is secured by the bolt holding the rear brake line clip in place. But the left hand side seems to want to screw directly into the lower rear suspension bolt and that just aint happening. So does anyone know the fix for this problem i.e. is the an insert for the bolt to be screwed into or is there a replacment bolt for the suspension unit itself thus allowing me to screw the hugger bolt into the suspension bolt. Please help, the missus is getting soaked

Not seen that one - got a link to where you got it?? Sounds like a very odd (and not very good) fixing system.

The "usual" rear hugger to use is the one from Ilmburger that fixes to the brake calliper bolts (longer bolts are supplied). The only problem is that the early ones weren't really strong enough. They also tended to make a lot of noise.

Stupidly enough I bought it from Ebay from a bloke who said he had bought it for, but not fitted it to, his Rockster ( I can see why now ). It came with two bolts and a poor photocopy with some scribbled instructions in German. On the photocopy there is a drawn arrow pointing at the bottom of the rear shock, I assume this is because there must be an alternative screw/bolt or attatchment for it to mount the hugger to. Im not best pleased. Thanks for your interest so far.

Any chance of scanning the instruction sheet for us, and taking a photo of the hugger?

Best way is to get yourself an image hosting account (photobucket/flickr/etc) and then get the url (web address) of the image and enclose it in [ img ] [ /img ] tags (remove the spaces).

Or use an image manipulation program to shrink the image down to a reasonable size - I'm guessing that your scan is a large file.

Just bought the same rear hugger. Will install when my Leo Vince y=pipe and end can arrive. The hugger came with an alternate rear shock lower bolt with an extra smaller bolt drilled through the head to accamodate the hugger. Will let you know how it goes...

Thanks Ive made do with super glue Aruldite and prayer. So far this is working but Ive also made enqs re a bolt as you describe it. Where did you get yours from ? maybe I can buy just the bolt on its own.

I got it from e-bay.
Pain in the rear to install. I had to widen the hole a bit to line it up but all's well in the end.
Left the silencer off as well. Looks good. Am going to install the Y-pipe next week.
