Lost new guy

Post by Edmundo Amado »

Hi everybody, I am very happy to find so much knowledge and help. I have learned so much about my bike just by reading all your posts, thanks. The downside is that I feel kind of lost because I own a 2003 R850R and I have not seen a R850R board. Which is the most similar bike to the R850R? Is there any?

Welcome...
The r1100r is the closest to 850 although there are not major differences in these bikes.

I had a '96 850R...great bike and other than displacement, virtually identical to the 1100 as far as I know.

Actually other than the displacement (850 vs 1150) and HP (70 hp vs 85 hp) and maybe a diferent FD ratio your bike and the R1150R are about identical copies.

They would weight abot the same but the 850, due to it's smaller displacement with have less vibration.

The 850's came to the US, early on, but we really don't favor small displacements so it didn't sell well and BMW discontinued the model.

Welcome and enjoy your ride......
