New to R1100

I just picked up a R1100RT as forgot to look at the oil filter. Is it open like the newer 1150? I ordered a couple of K&N oil filters and I gave my BMW oil filter wrench to the buyer of my last BMW. The K&N has the nut on the bottom of the filter and my K bikes had a access cover for the filter so if they are open I am good to go. If not.....

As it turns out the PO had a FRAM filter on it. Say it aint so! I will have to butcher it off.

Fram is rubbish......if you don't want to buy the Mahle/OEM BMW filters, Purolators or Mobil1 have good subs

I did get the Fram off by punching 2 holes in it and using 2 screwdrivers with a channel lock to get it off. Glad to see it go! I installed a K&N and with the nut welded to the bottom of the filter I am staying with them. I use the same style on my V-Rod and that filter is no easier to get off with a strap wrench.
