Wunderlick Tank Bag

Purchased a new Wunderlick tank bag a few weeks ago. Used it for the first time last weekend. When I removed the bag to fuel, I noticed some scuff marks on my tank paint. These markes needed to be buffed out upon my return home. The bag specifically says the underside is made of a material that would not scratch the tank. I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this and what can I do in the furture to prevent this. I really don't want to spend 30 min after each long ride polishing my tank.

Whenever I use my tank back I'm uber careful to make sure I clean both the tank and the bottom of the bag. So far I've been lucky and haven't scuffed my paint...however I'm in the market for a Marsee Corona bag so this will no longer be an issue!

They make some material that you can put between your tank and the bag as well that might help save you paint.

Had the same problem till I got a piece of synthetic mesh used under throw rugs to prevent them from slipping. Mesh is available in black and cut slightly oversize to the bottom of your bag prevents bag from slipping under load and the mesh is virtually invisible. Any carpeting store should have this mesh..

As has already been said -- Keep tank and bag clean. Several good quality coats of wax will protect the finish as well as anything.

I had the simialar problem with a Wunderlich tank bag. The piece of velcro that fits to the back of the tank had come partially loose from its backing paper while in transit, I didn't noticed that it had left some sticky stuff on the base of the bag. I had to use WD40 to clean the sticky mess off of the tank and the bag, no problems since. I gave this bag a severe testing on my trip through Begium, France and Spain last summer and it performed very well.

I got the Marsee magnetic teardrop tank bag for Christmas. I've had some scratches on the lower tank. I beleive the only way to prevent this is to put something under it. I think I'll install one of those carbon fiber looking black pads, I think I have read that some guys use a microfiber pad or just a terry cloth.

+1 on the Marsee...quality built and works as advertised.
