mounting hardware for BMW screens

Post by ken k »

hello fellow beaksterites....

I recently sold a BMW sport screen to a fellow member of our forum. Unfortunately when I sent him the parts, we discovered some mounting parts are missing. I never checked it because when I bought the screen a year or so ago (from someone on this forum, I don't recall whom) I already had a touring screen on my bike and so I had the mounting hardware already installed on my bike. I simply took the touring screen off and mounted the sport screen to the same hardware.

Anyway long story short, I called my BMW dealer to see if I could get the parts for the guy and they said you cannot buy the mounting hardware separately for the screens. This seems very odd to me. I mean what if something broke or just simply got lost? Does anyone know anyting about this? or does anyone have a spare set of mounting hardware laying around they would be willing to part with inexpensively?

I have a set that I bought awhile ago but never installed... I kind of like her naked!
I definitely don’t have the long bolts but those are easy to find. Have no idea what else I may be missing.

If it's just the hardware, the washers/threaded rubber inserts/M5 hex bolts that actually mount the screen to the metal brackets, the part# for a complete set of 2 is 82 00 0 419 435
That particular mounting kit/hardware for those screens is made in the US.
Got 'em from Chicago BMW (phone order)

For what's it's worth...

I ordered this same part number from my dealer and the cost was $34. and it was only for two (2) screws etc. If you need all four (4) it would be $68. for screws and a couple of washers!

Except for the actual brackets, you can get most of the parts at a good hardware store. The bolts that hold the brackets to the bike, and even the well nuts, are in the parts drawers at a hardware store. I just bought a couple of the well nuts (the expanding rubber nuts that hold the shield to the brackets) for $1.85 each at a local hardware store that is a bit over priced.
