Headlight lens
Hi,
I have a trouble with ordering headlight lens. Got one today from local BMW dealer ( item nr 63121358147, code on lens: 1305604017), but it is too large. Is there different lenses and headlamps available? I have 2002 R1150R, visible part of lens must be 17 cm ( + edge covered by collar). If someone could confirm the diameter, it would help me mutch- I want to be sure, if I got wrong item from dealer or previous owner of my bike has done some rebuilding and the headlight is not original... Thank you in advance!
Regards
Urmo

Re: Headlight lens
Hi Urmo, the part number you ordered is correct for your bike but I can't confirm actual number on lens. There should only be one size of lens for 1150R with different patterns for driving on left(63121358148) or right(63121358147)

I'm measuring 190mm over the lens sealing ring. The measured lens is from an Arab emirates bike, but the correct dip UK lens was a direct replacement. Odd though, at MOT time the light beam still dipped the wrong way, baffling to the tester as the reflector is the same for all markets. Hope he is as understanding next year.
Re: Headlight lens
Urmoo, if you have the wrong headlamp I have noticed a BMW R1150R is for sale as parts on UK e-bay. Each day more bits are added, no headlamp yet but paste this Item number: 220203498333 in e-bay and ask the seller if he has one.

Will keep a eye on ebay.

edit: seems previous owner has combined an universal head lamp unit... found one which looks same and costs under 10 EUR.
Ebay seller do not transport outside UK.

Re: Headlight lens
Interested in the LH/RH dip problem as I have a UK-market (drive-on-left) R1150R which now lives in (drive-on-right) France...
Fortunately there's no annual test here in France (MoT in UK, CT in France) so my UK Certificate of Conformity will get me French 'plates' soon without any physical inpection - plus I use a stick-on converter anyway and now only ride in good, daylight conditions. (Don't knock it, I served my time daily commuting through the UK winter... !)
I have been quoted £100 for a RHD dip light, but there is a thread on my local 'UK-expats-in-France' forum which has enabled me to change my car lights for free (saving about €300) with a small mod to the bulbs... and I'm about to try it on the bike.
Anyne have any 'change of driving side' experience?

Re: Headlight lens
I used to ride a bike and drive cars in Germany etc. whilst in the Army, for my bike ( Triumph at the time) I used to change the lense for left and right side driving as it was cheap enough, for my car as it spent most of the time in Germany I just used to mask the lense with tape for the odd time in UK. I am sure you will be able to pick up a lHD 1150R lense for less than the price you have been quoted.

Re: Headlight lens
I had to replace the lens of my '02 R1150R as well. I still have the receipt and it shows as a part #63121358147. A new gasket came w/ mine, so maybe you're trying to fit it w/ the old gasket in place??

Re: Headlight lens
I used the part numbers listed here and had my RH dip lens installed in about 5 minutes, once I figured out the crazy springs
