I have been very impressed with the quality of workmanship of the Tech-Mounts and dealing with them personally has been equally worthwhile--very nice and accommodating people who deliver a very elegantly made product.
The view from the rider's postion; note that the entire dash can be seen, this was important to me. Also, note the asymmetry of the two farkles. The Zumo is a pretty big item and it would overpower in size anything else mounted. The Tech-Mounts are nearly infinitely adjustable.
The mount at the handlebars pivots up and down over 180 degrees and the base can swing 360 degrees.
The mounting plate--where the farkle lives, is on a ball joint and is very malleable. There are three set screws that tighten down the ball joint and then another hex screw the give extra security.
All of this maneuverability is necessary for the Zumo to avoid hitting the tank bag--in my case a SW-Motech bag--the middle one.
Also, I wanted to post the way I mounted my Wunderlich thermometer (and continued thanks to that VERY special Christmas elf). Because it was to fit at the top of the triple tree it affected where I'd mount the Zumo and the Starmate. But what I wanted to point out was that The 0 degrees mark is at the 12 o'clock position.
Formula One drivers put the shift points at that position to see more easily. So I can just glance at it, don't have to read it, really, and if that needle is pointing to the top, I increase my awareness of ice on the road,usually not a problem down here--that is the real temp here today, almost 20C.
So, just wanted to post this little report. Still have to hardwire the Zumo-already did the Sirius.
But ya know what? This is the Sunday before Mardi Gras --just another Tuesday to y'all--and the party is in full swing. Mardi Gras's have been especially good since Katrina, I don't know why except it is maybe part of the post traumatic stress syndrome that everyone has a little bit of down here.
