Remus Hexacone

Post by jomo »

Hi!

Santa has decided to give me a new exhaust (a few days late, but I forgive him;)

I've been looking at the Remus Hexacone for a few days now. Any opinions/experiences?

Best regards,

Remus Hexacone

I have also been looking at it as according to the South African supplier the Powercone in stainless steel which I would prefer is no longer available. Im not impressed by the sound of the pipe in the sound clip - maybe need to hear one in the flesh on someone elses bike.

Nor am I... [-( in fact, the sound from the clip would probably keep me from buying one.

I heard a Two Bros pipe on a R1200GS. Sounded real good - "healthy", without being obnoxious. Not sure if they make one for the RR yet.

If you look carefully at the video you can see that the removable "db-killer" is removed. That is NOT how I intend to run my machine! I've compared with photos from Remus' website.

I believe (don´t know for certain, but from what I've heard) it's going to be much more quiet with the db-killer in.

I believe the Powercone and the Hexacone sound very equal with the db-killer-thingies in. For me it's more a question of which looks better!

And who said that men don't buy on a whim....they are worse than our better halves....at least the wimen lok and try seventeen diferent variants before making their mind.

Here we have jomo, asking for input, which he gets, is negative and still goes with his original thought....so what is the purpose to ask for input?

So what do I say....to each it's own.......

Don't see any negatives about the Hexacone. Only a comment that the sound doesn't come through a 3" PC speaker very well and that Fly likes the look of the Powercone (no reason - he just likes it), but Philo says the Powercone is no longer available.
Seems to me - Jomo was looking for someone to talk him out of buying the Hexacone but no one stepped up.
Enjoy the muffler jomo it should sound great on your bike (but I would run it with the db-killer out).

He, he, I see your point "Why ask if you don´t care about the answer?"

It´s more or less like mogu83 said, didn´t hear anything really negative about it except about the sound, which is really subjective (and through a PC speaker) I´ve looked at the Powercone but don´t really like the look of it. Personally I love the look of the HEXacone on the HEXhead!

I don't know but video's are no way to judge a sound from an exhaust. Personnally I feel most aftermarket cans for the R serie sound the same in legal trim and more or less the same with the db killer removed but louder, witch makes perfect sence I guess as almost all pipes are pretty mutch the same construction wise.

Personnaly I went for the Bos CF endcan but this is hard to get abroad I think but it looks great as it is at a steeper angle and moved more inward so it doesn't interfere with the bags.

Just to let everyone know that Remus still sells the Power Cone muffler. I just purchased the header system with the titanium wrapped Power Cone. I purchased the system in Daytona from the Remus representatives located at the Daytona BMW shop and installed the system myself. Took a little bit of sorting out but I finally got it together. It fits well mating to the underside exhaust support with the centerstand falling into place on the rest provided on the transition piece between the header and the muffler. The exhaust cone clears the saddle bag with some room to spare.
The system works really well and it feels more than the horsepower claimed by Remus...at 5,000 RPM, in second gear, the front end will come up so be careful. I left the silencer in the muffler after firing the system up...it would be a little to loud for my taste wothout it. The sound with the silencer in place is plenty for me...it is not quiet but has a real "I mean business" tone which I like! In speaking with the Remus reps they informed me that all of the dyno tests were done with the silencer in place giving an additionat 7-8 horsepower and 7-8 Lb-Ft of torque. The system saves about 18 LBS now making my wet weight about 476 LBS which about matches my old R75/6 in weight but with 117 horsrpower. The torque comes in about 4,000 RPM right near my highway driving speed making passing effortless.

Hi everybody.

I'm pretty happy with the Remus Hexacon Full Carbon that I've installed on my R1200R: it looks good (IMHO) and sounds great! ;)

Wow that also looks great! All I've done so far is replacing the stock endcan with a Bos Carbon Fiber oval endcan. I would like some black wheels in the future(and if I realy could I would like some black AC Schnitzer wheels) but truth to be told I also wanted black wheels on my R1100S that I owned before but never came around to actualy doing it mostly due to the of a couple of other hobbies(wrist watches and hifi) eating into my funds... I do enjoy it though that other people do make the effort to create something realy personal and unique so I would say keep it up.

Here's mine..
Image
Love the steep angle of the BOS with will still alowe for systemcases to be mounted.
Image
BOS is also a lot closer to the rear wheel with makes the bike look realy tight from behind.

I love what you've done to your bike Ziobato. The painted touches on the tank look good. I like the bike wheels too and the CF can. I'm still lusting after R1200S wheels for my bike.
