I'm kind of backing into this forum, so bear with me. My SIL can't afford his 04 RT, so there's me taking over payments. I think it will fit my wife's butt better than my long time friend, a '97 Honda VFR. I previously owned an 04 GT, but it self-destructed in a roundabout at about 12mph(fell on left side, breaking fairing, scratching engine, h-bar, footpeg, slid across the road, hit the curb, then stood up and fell on the rt side, breaking even more stuff on that side). Adjustor totalled the bike with only 4k miles! I had hoped to get something that we could tour on and enjoy the year round conditions in Cali, so I hope the RT will do it for us. Since I have more of a sport-touring background, I would like to solicit for some suggestions on how to "increase" the performance of the RT somewhat. I realize it won't be able to compete against my 01 RSVR, but I enjoyed being able to capitalize on the excellent suspension and ABS of the GT, and rode it with a sportbike crowd, much to their amazement.
Thoughts? and look forward to meeting up with you!

(where is that blushing emoticon),
No, but I play one on tv. I actually haven't driven the RT, a single mile, but was curious to see if there were any upgrades other than pipe/header combo. I will probably get that first - Remus sounds good. I will probably also upgrade to the Ohlins after 30k or so. My experience with BMW was riding with zeal, the GT - I was amazed at how at around 6k, the engine would go completely silent and vibration free. It was like sitting in a chair with a gentle fan blowing in your face, only difference was the scenery was going by at around 90mph. The bike rode better each time I rode it as I gently shaved grams off the pegs, centerstand, sidestand etc.
I realize this isn't the intended purpose of the RT, but I am just curious if some of the 1150R options might be available.
