Heated grips left on = battery drainage ?

Hi
I think I just figured out that leaving the heated grips "on" when parking the bike for a few days can drain the battery. Am I correct ? It refused to start twice recently and I had to put the battery on charge both times. Do you think that I damaged the battery ?

I'll take a guess and say no..When you turn the key off the grips should go off as well..I think it must just be a coincidence.

Yes, when you tuurn the key off, you turn the heated grips off.

On the other hand, if you turn the key one notch too far, then you turn the sidelights on and that can lead to a flattened battery

Ride safely,

DJ is correct, you fail to mention how old the baterry is. Most of the time the battery life is put to a test in cold climates....since starting the bike cold with the oil the consistency of Aunt Jamima pacake syrup places a tremendous load on the battery. If the battery is weak to begin it will continue to deterirate unless it is fully recharged.

I think that Qubec is "colder than a witches txx".....correct?

ride more miles on each ride, let the battery get re-charged by the alternator properly.

(also check your alternator belt isn't slipping).

Thanks guys

I'd bet that you might of turned your key one click to far counterclockwise. :P
That would put your bike into "Park" WTF ever that is for I don't know. Alls I know is that that is what I've done B4. Only to wake to a dead battery :(
