Sheesh DYNAMICS! (should I shout your name when I use it?)
It's only October 6 and you are single handedly killing the bandwidth with advertisement posts and cross-posting. Go easy. Use links.
Oh, and send a PayPal to Doug for about £100 to ease the pain of your guilt.

The Older I Get, The Less I Know.
Hi.
Sorry if I have offended/broken rules etc. I am fairly new to all this and it certainly wasn't my intention to upset anyone.
Yeah my caps lock was on when I registered and no way to change it now. (It is Dynamic though)!
What is a advertisement post?
I put links on other topics as I was really excited about this new bike and wanted to share with you all, and didn't want anyone to miss it.
I am sent these images direct and do not have links to the images. (I uploaded them from my computer)
And, I don't understand what you mean about the payment!
I will certainly not be posting further images I receive from my BMW contact, and once again except my apologies
Brian.

He was kidding, however last month the website hit the bandwidth limit.
You see, Doug (the main man behind the website) is unlikely to be rich, and he does not use advertising, keeping this website free of ads.
And running this website costs a fair bit of $$$.
Certain number of users opened their wallets and sent a little bit of $ £ ¥ (other currencies too
Think about it - a year membership (voluntary) is $20, which is a bit more than £10. 3 pints of your favourite beer probably cost more.
Considering how much BMW charge for servicing ... you would hardly notice that you have £10 pounds less in your pocket.
Cheers

Back on meds. Your apology is acceptable and all is fine. My complaint (and I tried very hard to be semi-nice using the word sheesh!) is the bandwidth of each picture you posted, each time a user looks at it is counted against Doug's monthly quota. We like ride reports with meaningful pictures from members about their own rides; we like videos (which no doubt cause massive bandwidth penalties; and we do like this news about the new Boxer. And the pics were very good quality and all that. But generally speaking, links to pictures that are more advertisement than ride report are more 'friendly' to the bandwidth challenge.
That said, please accept my apology for lashing out.

Actually, those pictures -- hosted by photobucket -- DO NOT contribute to this site's bandwidth totals. Your browser goes out to photobucket for the pictures, and not r1150r.org.
Similarly for videos. I think the only pictures hosted by this site are the little ones used for avatars. So, post away.

Correct. I have seen this be misrepresented numerous times on this website.NoRRmad wrote:Actually, those pictures -- hosted by photobucket -- DO NOT contribute to this site's bandwidth totals. Your browser goes out to photobucket for the pictures, and not r1150r.org.

If the photo is hosted by a third party (and not uploaded to the forums), it's not going to affect the bandwidth necessary to keep this site up and running.
What will affect bandwidth is increased postings, private messages, topic views (third party pictures don't count), etc.
This is the issue when you have a site that has no source of funding other than donations. You quickly find that web forums are expensive to run once it's more than just a few hundred people!
I was PMing with Doug and he asked about other forum solutions and bandwidth, and I asked him to send me an e-mail to discuss, and I just replied to him.
I run the 14th largest discussion forums in the world (we used to be #10, but those damn anime role playing game forums are taking over the world!), and we are completely funded by advertisers. Granted we have so much bandwidth it would make you cry, in addition to 350,000 registered members, and over 2 million unique hits per day.
I love this community here and I am willing to help out with my expertise on forum solutions as much as I can.
But as for this topic - that is one drop dead sexy bike and I want one!
