Wrist Pins?

Post by jas »

My R1100 was “clicking” pretty good so I adjusted the valves in hopes of quieting things down. That didn’t work so to the shop I went. Was told that one of wrist pins was worn down and needed replace. I was also told that I could not replace just one side, that both had to be done at the same time along with the pistons. Does this (along with 7 hours of shop time) sound about right?

That diagnosis sounds questionable to me. It could very well be that what you're hearing is excessive rocker arm clearance. I would check that before doing anything else. Click here for a good writeup on how to check and adjust rocker arm clearances... look for "OREPAD".
