R1150R ABS III

Post by ikar4ever »

Hello, I upgraded my 2001 R1150R originally without ABS, with ABS III system from R850R, year 2004. I have to replace cabling and brake lines. I performed hydraulic bleeding and filling the system. When I powered on the system, ABS light is blinking at rate of 1Hz. I checked operability of ABS module electromotors by depresing of rear brake pedal and front brake pedal and it's working.
I would like to read and reset old ABS errors stored in system and read if any new errors persists. Originaly this is performed by BMW MoBiTec diagnostic.
Is there any other software or hardware available on market to do this without visiting BMW service.

Additional info

Post by ikar4ever »

Hello,
I already read http://www.largiader.com/abs/absfault.html about messages , but no info found about errors read and reset. Also it's not clear for iABS if GEN and ABS lights are used for errors display, is engine running or just ignition ON.
Help would be appreciated.

I know on my 04R that the ABS light will blink rapidly when the bike is first turned on as it goes through a self check. Dont do anything with the brakes while it does this. After a second or two, it goes to a slow steady blink. This is what it is supposed to do. Once the bike moves so far, about 10-15 feet, the sensor on the wheels can calibrate and the light will go off if all okay.

fault fixes

Guys what you need is to find someone with a GS911 I've been working as a beta tester on it & it reads all the faults ......handy as hell for the 1200 as you also have access to the instruments ;)

you can clear all the faults with them ...also damn handy for balancing the injectors

I just returned from my garage where I finished assembling stuff on my RR. I made test ride and ABS flashing light went off after few meters of ride. So it is normal to have only ABS light blinking with aprox. 1Hz until wheels are turning. For diagnostics I will check GS911 if available somewhere in Europe.

Huh? What's a GS911, and where does one acquire such a beast?

good point should have said......

The GS911 is a BMW diagnostic interface that works with any R or K series that has the round 10 pin plug ....this let you diag your bike...handy on a trip as the unit itself is small.....most important is the ability to reset the systems on your bike...as if your abs system sniffs air, like falling over when your parked....it would normally be off to the dealer for a reset in the uk thats £68 each time.....

Let me know where & I'll find out who the dealer is in your area....

cheers
