This is just wacky

Post by GypsyRR »

This was a pretty interesting story from The Sunday Wichita Eagle Newspaper a couple of weeks ago.

A resident in the area saw a ball bouncing around kind of strange in a nearby pond and went to investigate. It turned out to be a flathead catfish who had obviously tried to swallow a child's basketball which became stuck in its mouth!!

The fish was totally exhausted from trying to dive, but unable to because the ball would always bring him back up to the surface. The resident tried numerous times to get the ball out, but was unsuccessful. He finally had his wife cut the ball in order to deflate it and release the hungry catfish.

Those catfish get really big down south! I heard (and seen pictures) some of them get as big as adult humans

Great story GypsyRR.

Does anyone know about the large catfish that the Japanese have on the top floor of the Tokyo tower building that is their early warning for earthquakes.

It knows and thrashes around the tank well before their hi-tech instruments can register enything...amazing...and it's always right..

Meeooww! Gurgle-gurgle-gurgle! "He shoots! He scores!"

"Hey Yushi! Would that be a 5 or 6 on the Richter Scale?"

Yep. Pretty wacky.

Wierd and Wacky! We find lots of strange stuff in sharks around here: license plates, pieces of coolers, tires, etc. and even in gators: lots of golf balls, a few golfers (and their pets), etc. but never heard of a catfish eating a ball before!

that reminds me of an animal rescue story my brother told me.

Right in the center of Iowa City flows the Iowa River (not far from Iowa Avenue, if you can believe it). My brother, riding his bike throught the parking lot of Dairy Queen, encounters a large beaver. The beaver is walking in circles. It has an empty can stuck on it's head, maybe spaghetti O's. After some consideration, he decides it is probably safe to help. He pulls the can off the beaver's head. The beaver was a little dazed and confused, but shortly therafter gained his senses and bolted for the river. Happy ending!
I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray...

That's hilarious. I would have been afraid of those teeth!

I pulled through a fast food drive-thru the other day in my little town and there was a duck in the drive-thru just waddling around looking for dropped fries, I guess. It just lives there. Odd. There's a car wash next to the fast food place and he goes there to get water, or sprayed by people, and then waddles back to the fast food drive-thru lane and just hangs out - or whatever ducks do.

but I've seen stranger things than ducks in my little town........... like the people!!!!
