I would be soooooo pissed off...Take it further if you can...I would.

I've seen, heard of..and experienced similar experiences and it's not good enough IMO.

I'm sure BMW's upper management would want to know about it if you're not happy..or don't get the service you expect from BMW.

Glad you're back on the road..Thanks for letting us know..and let us know how it turns out.

Unless it is just a oil change, or tires while I am waiting there, my bike is washed at my local dealership. They make it a point to show you what is fixed. I didnt get any papers with the warranty claim, but I am positive all I would have had to do was ask.

Sounds like you are having a lot of problems with teh bike...its a shame, and also uncommon.

From what I understand, BMW is pretty concerned with the service of their dealerships. I get a call from BMW almost every time that my bike goes to the dealer, and the only way that they pass the survey is if I give them a perfect score.

Like DJ, I would be livid.

yea..... so i washed the bike this morning, and i found even more damage. the left fork has been gouged majorly, and it looks like someone used a flat bastard file to file it down. this is rediculous. i called the general manager, and *when* my starter and grips show up im going to show them additional damage. i pointed out the damage before i left on the fork plate, and now im going to show them the other damage.

BTW, on a great note, i was riding in this morning, and got to experiance what loose handlebar mounts are like  i told them about that wonderfull experiance as well. i tightened and aligned them this morning.

im pissed.

anyone got a way to post pics here?

Sorry to hear it's been such an 'experience' for you... A good way to post pictures is on http://www.photobucket.com. It's free and gives you the links to put directly in your posts. There are lots of other sites out there too. Hope they treat you right at the dealer... Best of luck

my tank, the bike, my pants and my riding jacket are spotted in shock oil.
as soon as i got off the bike the General Manager got a voice mail with a little message about this.

Sorry to hear about all the troubles.

Sounds to me like a crappy dealer and a possible lemon.

Sounds to me like all the damage would be directly traceable to the failed Telelever, and the hassle due to a VERY poor dealer.

Halo - do you have another dealer you can get to??

Which shock?? I assume you mean the front one?

Very sorry to hear of your tale of woe. I think you'd be entitled to a compensation payout of some sort for all this hassle.

I read it to mean that fork oil was leaving the front left fork tube.

Ah right - the left slider. I see.

That's just an empty telescopic tube - there's nothing in there except a little bit of lubricating oil. all the suspension damping etc is done by the "coilover" shock between the legs. That's probably why the dealer didn't treat the leak as an emergency, it's not going to affect the bike's handling at all. (although I agree that it's not good!)

how is that just a slider? it has to be a dampner of some sorts.

anywhoo, got my bike back on saterday. (12th) had a lengthy conversation with the new service manager. he is very helpfull compared to before. things were taken care of, and he ordered more parts as well. the left oil cooler that they chipped the paint, the handle bars, and another fork plate to compare to mine.

overall: suck ass experiance
the new service manager: trys like hell to please me. ill give HIM, not the dealership another shot when i get my parts in.
im currently typing out the "thank you for coming to see us" response email they sent me. its getting CC'ed to the owner, manager, and NA.

damping is all in the shock - that's what Telelever is for, it seperates the brake forces from the suspension forces & movement. Unfortunately you still need some method of turning the wheel for steering ( ;) )- so they have the fork legs with a telescopic slider to allow for the suspension movement.
