Well, I don't know what you think it means, but I found this on the web:

"The incidence of uber-tossers who happen to drive a BMW is far too high to be down to chance. So are ##### attracted to BMWs, or does some eldritch process of ####adification occur after an otherwise normal person has bought a BMW?"

I found other things along those lines... basically implies that people who own BMW's drive like they own the roads and are idiots. Comes from "keepers" and "tossers"... as in toss them out... They have no business driving that vehicle... etc...

Doesn't sound like a term of endearment to me...

I've been called worse, but certainly wouldn't take on a moniker like that by choice.

Down under they are the same..and commonly used..and often in fun.

I like Beakster and Beaksterets..but that would only be for R1150R owners.. :D

As for BMW riders in general..most people would say..Bald, Fat and Boring old farts..

I'm a tosser :) I don't know if I'd have the nerve to go up to another GS rider and say "are you a tosser" straight off! Depends how big they are I suppose

Beaksters has been used regularly since at least November 2002 when referring to the owners of the R1150R (at least here in the U.S. east). I think it might have been coined by Sam originally, but maybe by Dean or one of the others who organized the original Beakster Bash at Deal's Gap.

Roadsteristas (and Roadsterettas) have also been used but have not gained currency.

All in fun. I support your efforts.

But I was under the impression that the term 'tosser' was first derived from the shortening of 'tosspot' (as in piss jar)!?! Being a non-Anglo, American; born to an immigrant family from parts south of France, I'd defer to your explanation from the UKGSers.

wouldn't our yank equivalent of 'tossers and tosserettes' be:

beaters and beaterettes or spankers and spankerettes ?
