How is Gary?
How is the recovery coming?
I was dreaming when I wrote this, forgive me if it goes astray...

Grrrrrr... I can't stand my doctor.
He initially tells me it's a bad break, but we'll see what happens in 30 days. I call in two weeks to tell him that one bone seems to be growing on top of the other, he says not to worry. At 30 day, or, 4 weeks, he looks at the xray and comments again on how bad the break is. "Some doctors would operate, but not me. It will heal." I got a second opinion, and this doctor says that I'll most likely be fine with full range of motion in my arm, but if I did want to operate, it should have been done before the bone started to mend. It would be major surgery now, dealing with blood vessels and nerves that now have new bone growing through/around them.
I was told to stop wearing the brace at 4 weeks, and I could return to work at 6 weeks. At my 8 week appointment, the doctor tells me that I should take it easy for 4 to 6 more weeks, as this was a very bad break, and I could resume normal activity at around 12 weeks. WTF??? I swear, these phuckers just guess, make bad decisions, then try to cover their asses so they don't get sued. I'm sure there are many good doctors in the world, I just didn't get one of them. My arm is getting better, stronger, I think. My doctor does not even think I need physical therapy. He's wrong, but, I'll figure out what to do on my own.
Back to me- I threw my back out three weeks ago, spent almost two days in bed before I hobbled to my wife's hatchback, and laid down in the rear for a trip to the emergency room. It is only since Thursday of this week that I have been walking upright, and I'm almost back to normal now (with the back). Through all of this, my mind has been my worst enemy. I've been fearful of running out of money, and being disabled, etc. Serious stress, and some major depression. That's why I didn't update my earlier thread - I wanted to wait until I was in better spirits, and I'm there. I may not be symetrical with my shoulders, and I'll surely have some limits with what I can do with my left arm, but life is good! I've got a beautiful wife, amazing 6 month old son (amazing I can still carry him, at 21+ lbs), and I've come (or am coming) away from this with a new appreciation for life. I'm really glad that fall wasn't worse.
My R may be sold Monday. I wonder what the 2027 R1450R will be like? I'll wait patiently for it.

I do not have a visible bump while my shirt is off, but one bone grew under the other, so I have a bump that can be felt when one runs their hand over my newly healed clavicle. I feel some discomfort when reaching for things at odd angles above my head, unfortunate since I am chimney sweep. I am told this will go away, and healing will continue over the next month, or 12 weeks total. I cannot raise my shoulder muscle on the left side the same way I can on the right side, but again, not visible unless I flex these muscles.
I am experiencing a nerve twinge when I reach at certain angles. It is not painfull, more like a very slight electrical charge or numbness when I reach behind me, or sometimes when I reach down for something and grab. This may take awhile to disappear, I'm hoping sooner rather than later. Nerves heal too, right?
I've looked into disability insurance, but it's so damn expensive, and doesn't kick in until I'm out of work for atleast a month, and even then only covers a fraction of my bills.

I finally got my MRI. No herniated disc, but I have degenerative arthritis in my spine. I was told to make an appointment for a pain management doctor, and get steroid shots. This is information relayed from the secretary (will know more after doctor appointment on Monday), and I may go against what this doctor says, and take the MRI to a neurosurgeon. I'm hoping to fix or somewhat repair the problem, not put bandaids on it.
