Custom moulded ear plugs

Post by Trapper »

This is one for the Brits I guess. Or audiologists. Or possibly British audiologists? (from the Northwest of England)

Anyway....

I'm giving serious thought to buying some custom moulded earplugs.

Anyone know where to get them from, other than at the bike show?

I went to the NEC this year, and was offered a fitting from a guy with hands so dirty I wouldn't let him near my bike, nevermind my ears. (There were other companies offering them, but I didn't like the look of any of them.)

Can you buy these things on the high street?
If so - how much, and how long do they last?

Any other advice gratefully received.

Cheers

I have them..I got mine done at a bike show..but you can go to the guys house and have them done there...do you want his address.. :D

I've had mine for a few years now..they say that your ears change and you need to get new ones every couple of years but mine are still fine.

I have the ones with speakers built in for use with my iPod...they work well and I can turn the volume way down and still hear it.

These are the ones that I have...I think they cost about $150..so they're not cheap..but if it helps to stop hearing loss it's worth it..I even use mine mowing the lawn.

A good idea is to get them made in different colors for each ear.

Mine are both blue and I often try to put the left one in the right ear..Doh!..they're easy to get mixed up.

In a spooky piece of synchronicity this piece was in yesterday's Sunday Times.

For this kind of money I really could visit DJ's guy in Melbourne!

Hopefully I can get some for a bit less.

Cheers
