SADDLEBAG Repair!

Post by pepebmw »

My BMW left side saddlebag got hit really bad. I am wondering if there's a way to repair. Okay, here's the damage: there are two pieces, the one that you latch the saddlebag onto the bike, that's fine; the one that's a door, to close and lock the saddlebag with your contents in, that's broken. Here's a picture of the damage. Is there a way to replace it? Could I just order a new cover and replace it with ease? Please help, thanks!

It's called a "lid". Thanks and one last thing how do u exactly de-install the broken lid and reinstall a new lid? I look closely and wasn't sure how to do it. Any suggestions?

Thanks, toner!

BMW System case lid.

Just drill out the rivets on the hinge..throw away that broken lid..and replace it with a new one..they don't cost much.

You can either re-rivet..or use small nuts&bolts for the new lid.

She'll be as good as new in no time...here's a few pics from when I did mine.

And you can substitute smaller (city case) or larger lids, depending on how you liked your old ones. I like the standard ones except they won't hold a full face helmet. But the big un's are just a bit too big for my taste.
